When used with a reward using a training clicker with Parrots can help improve you and your bird's life together.

When your Parrot demonstrates the desired behaviour you press the clicker to activate the sound, then reward your bird with a tasty treat or verbal praise.

Please note, for maximum impact, it is important the sound of the clicker and the reward follow the desired behaviour as quickly as possible (if not immediately) after the desired behaviour.

The clicker provides you with a tool that produces a consistent unique noise. Your bird soon learns that the learned behaviours get a positive reaction from you, and other unwanted behaviours don't.

The length of the target stick can be adjusted. Target training involves teaching your Parrot to touch something on cue.

First your bird is rewarded for even looking at the target. Then, they are rewarded for taking a step towards the target; finally, for actually touching the target.

To expand the flexibility of target training, start moving the target so your Parrot needs to go to it so they can touch it. Work on this behaviour until your bird does it consistently.
